S Players, Get Ready: Speed and Agility Drill for 3A Programs

As summer training heats up, Soldotna Stars' S players should be focusing on quick changes of direction to outmaneuver opponents. Introducing the 'Ladder Shuttle' drill. Set up a ladder with 5-6 rungs, spaced 3 feet apart. Players start at one end, then perform a lateral shuffle through the ladder, changing direction with each step. Complete 3 sets of 10 reps, resting for 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues: 'Quick feet, eyes up, and explode out of each cut.' This drill translates to game performance by improving S players' ability to read the offense and react to ball carriers. It also enhances their agility, allowing them to stay in coverage and make plays on the ball.
