Unlocking the Tight End Potential: A Summer Drill for 3A Programs

๐Ÿ“ Soldotna StarsยทMonday, July 6, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At FridayNightPulse, we're excited to share a training tip that will elevate your Tight End play. For 3A programs like the Soldotna Stars, this drill is a game-changer. Introducing the 'Route Box Drill'. Set up a 10-yard square with cones, with each corner 5 yards from the center. Divide your TEs into pairs, with one player as the receiver and the other as the quarterback. For 3 sets of 10 reps, have the QB throw to the receiver in each corner of the box. Coaching cues: 'Run the route, don't just move your feet' and 'Catch with your hands, not your body'. This drill translates to game performance by improving route running precision, ball skills, and timing with the QB. Run this drill at your next summer camp and watch your TEs take their game to the next level.
