What Coaches Look for on a Junior Day Visit: A Guide for RB Prospects

๐Ÿ“ Service CougarsยทWednesday, July 8, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

When attending a junior day visit, running back prospects at 4A programs like the Service Cougars should be prepared to showcase their skills and demonstrate their fit with the program. Coaches look for players who can contribute immediately, so be prepared to demonstrate your ability to read blocks and hit holes quickly. In particular, coaches want to see a player's ability to accelerate through the hole and reach top-end speed within 10-12 yards. To prepare, focus on building a strong foundation of strength and power through summer training, and work on developing your ability to change direction quickly. Additionally, be prepared to ask thoughtful questions about the program and demonstrate your knowledge of the game. By doing so, you'll show coaches that you're a serious prospect who's ready to contribute to their team's success.
