Eagle River Wolves Promote Assistant Coach to Coordinator Role
Eagle River Wolves head coach, Mark Davis, announced Thursday the promotion of assistant coach, Matt Johnson, to defensive coordinator. Johnson, a five-year veteran of the program, has been instrumental in developing the team's defensive line and linebackers. The Wolves finished 2025 with a 7-4 record, earning a spot in the 4A state playoffs. Johnson's expertise is expected to bolster the team's defense, which struggled to contain opponents' running games last season. The promotion is seen as a key move in the team's pursuit of a 4A state championship, with Johnson's recruiting efforts also expected to attract top talent to the program. The Wolves will hold their annual summer camp in late July, with the team's first game scheduled for early September.
