Fueling for Success: Hewitt-Trussville Huskies' Two-a-Days Nutrition
As the summer heat intensifies, Hewitt-Trussville Huskies' running backs rely on a strategic nutrition plan to perform at their best during two-a-days. 'Our players focus on consuming a balanced diet rich in complex carbohydrates, lean proteins, and healthy fats,' says team nutritionist, Sarah Johnson. 'A typical meal for our RBs includes a post-workout smoothie with banana, spinach, and protein powder, followed by a hearty lunch of grilled chicken, brown rice, and steamed vegetables.'
Timing is crucial, as players aim to eat every 2-3 hours to maintain energy levels. Hydration is also key, with a minimum of 8-10 glasses of water per day. To combat heat exhaustion, players drink electrolyte-rich beverages like coconut water and sports drinks during intense workouts.
'Our goal is to provide our players with the fuel they need to perform at their best,' says Coach Smith. 'By focusing on nutrition and hydration, we can reduce the risk of injury and optimize our players' performance on the field.'
