Elijah Wilson Commits to SMU
Hewitt-Trussville Huskies defensive end Elijah Wilson has committed to SMU for the Class of 2025. Wilson, a 6-foot-3, 225-pound prospect, chose the Mustangs over offers from several other Power Five programs. The SMU staff believes Wilson's athleticism and technique make him a strong fit for their 3-4 defensive scheme, which should allow him to contribute immediately. With the departure of several key defensive ends from the 2024 squad, Wilson should have a clear path to playing time as a freshman. SMU's strong academic reputation and commitment to student-athlete success also played a role in Wilson's decision. Wilson had previously committed to Alabama but decommitted in April to explore other options. He is expected to enroll at SMU in January 2025.
