Thompson Warriors Defensive End Drill: 'The Rip and Rebound'
As the 7A season approaches, Thompson Warriors defensive end coach, Mark Smith, emphasizes the importance of explosive power and agility for his players. To improve these skills, Smith implements 'The Rip and Rebound' drill. Players start in a 3-point stance, then explosively rip their hands into the ground, immediately followed by a rebound jump to their feet. The drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps, with a 30-second rest between sets. Coaching cues include 'Rip like a snake!' and 'Rebound like a spring!' This drill translates to game performance by increasing a defensive end's ability to quickly change direction and explosively close on the quarterback. By incorporating 'The Rip and Rebound' drill into their summer training, Thompson Warriors defensive ends will be better equipped to dominate on the field.
