Auburn Tigers' Tight End Training Tip: 'Anchor and Release' Drill

๐Ÿ“ Auburn TigersยทThursday, July 23, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

Auburn Tigers' tight end coach is emphasizing the importance of a strong anchor point and quick release in the passing game this summer. To improve these skills, the team is running the 'Anchor and Release' drill. Players line up in a 3-point stance, with their feet shoulder-width apart and their hands on the ground. On the coach's signal, they explosively anchor their feet and extend their arms, keeping their elbows tight. The coach then releases a ball, and the tight end must quickly release from their anchor point and catch the ball. The drill is completed in sets of 3 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. This drill translates to game performance by improving a tight end's ability to quickly secure a block and release into a pass route.
