Central-Phenix City's Top Female Athletes Pivoting to Flag Football for College Opportunities
The Central-Phenix City Red Devils are producing talented multisport female athletes who are now turning their attention to flag football as a pathway to college scholarships. Coaches Liz and Katie Sowers at the University of Nebraska, a Power 4 school set to debut its inaugural flag football season in 2028, are actively recruiting top talent from the region. Other NAIA programs, including Ottawa University, Kansas, Keiser University, Florida, and Midland University, Nebraska, are also offering up to 12 scholarships. For athletes like the Red Devils' standout performers, it's essential to start building relationships with these coaches and understanding the specific requirements for each program. By attending summer camps and highlighting their skills on verified highlight tapes, these multisport athletes can position themselves for a chance to play flag football at the collegiate level.
