Bryant Hornets Tight End Training Tip: Route Running Agility Drill

๐Ÿ“ Bryant HornetsยทWednesday, July 8, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

To improve route running agility for 7A tight ends, try the 'L-Cut' drill. Set up cones in a zig-zag pattern, with 5 yards between each cone. Divide the players into pairs, with one player as the blocker and the other as the receiver. The receiver starts at the first cone, and the blocker starts 5 yards behind. On the coach's signal, the receiver runs through the course, making sharp cuts around each cone. The blocker must stay in front of the receiver, using proper footwork to stay on their hip. Repeat for 3 sets of 10 reps. This drill translates to game performance by improving the tight end's ability to quickly change direction and get open in tight spaces.
