FridayNightPulse Training Tip: Power Through Contact for 7A RBs
This summer, 7A programs like North Little Rock Charging Wildcats can give their running backs an edge with the 'Power Through Contact' drill. Set up a series of 3-4 cones in a zig-zag pattern, spaced 5 yards apart. Players start at the first cone, focus on keeping their shoulders square and driving their feet through the ground. As they approach each cone, they should aim to 'power through' the contact, keeping their legs and core engaged. Complete 3 sets of 10 reps, resting for 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include 'drive through,' 'stay square,' and 'finish strong.' This drill translates to game performance by teaching RBs to maintain their balance and momentum through contact, allowing them to break tackles and gain extra yards. By incorporating this drill into their training, 7A RBs can improve their effectiveness and take their game to the next level.
