FridayNightPulse Training Tip: LB Agility Ladder Drill for 6A Programs

๐Ÿ“ Greenwood BulldogsยทWednesday, July 22, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

This summer, 6A programs like the Greenwood Bulldogs can improve their linebackers' agility and reaction time with a simple drill using an agility ladder. The 'Ladder Weave' drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds of rest between sets. Players start in a 3-point stance, then weave through the ladder with their inside foot, keeping their outside foot 'free' and ready to react to a fake or tackle. Coaching cues include 'quick feet, quick hands' and 'stay low, stay fast.' This drill translates to game performance by improving a linebacker's ability to change direction quickly and stay in position to make tackles. It also enhances their reaction time, allowing them to quickly respond to a quarterback's fake or a running back's cut.
