Lockdown Coverage: A CB Drill for Bryant Hornets and 7A Programs

๐Ÿ“ Bryant HornetsยทMonday, July 27, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

This summer, Bryant Hornets cornerbacks can take their lockdown coverage to the next level with the 'Shadow Stance' drill. Set up four cones in a square formation, with two cones 5 yards apart and the other two cones 10 yards apart. Start with the CB in the 'shadow stance' โ€“ feet shoulder-width apart, knees slightly bent, and weight evenly distributed between both feet. On the whistle, the CB must quickly transition into a backpedal, keeping their eyes on the receiver. After 3 sets of 10 reps, have the CB change direction and focus on mirroring the receiver's movements. This drill translates to game performance by improving reaction time, agility, and ability to stay with receivers on deep routes.
