Bryant Hornets WRs: Master the 'Out and Up' Drill
This summer, 7A WRs at Bryant Hornets can take their game to the next level with the 'Out and Up' drill. The goal: to develop the quick release and separation needed to beat defenders at the high school level. The drill: Set up two cones 5 yards apart, with a third cone 10 yards downfield. Start at the first cone, then sprint out to the second cone, planting your outside foot and exploding upward, releasing a pass to a coach or teammate at the third cone. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, focusing on quick footwork and a high release point. Coaching cues: 'Out and up, out and up' and 'Release it, don't throw it.' This drill translates to game performance by allowing WRs to develop the speed and separation needed to create mismatches and gain an edge.
