Saguaro Sabercats S Players: 'Shuttle Sprint' Drill for Explosive Speed
Summer is in full swing, and the Saguaro Sabercats are gearing up for another dominant 5A season. To help their skilled wide receivers and tight ends reach top speed, the coaching staff has implemented a high-intensity 'Shuttle Sprint' drill. This drill consists of 5 sets of 3 reps, with 2 minutes of rest in between sets. The S player starts at the 5-yard line, sprints to the 10-yard line, then immediately changes direction and sprints back to the 5-yard line. Coaching cues include 'explosive start' and 'aggressive cut.' This drill translates to game performance by improving acceleration and deceleration, allowing S players to quickly change direction and get open down the field. The Sabercats' skilled S players will be ready to shine come kickoff.
