FridayNightPulse: Desert Edge Scorpions QBs Get Ready for 5A Action
This summer, Desert Edge Scorpions quarterbacks are focusing on developing their quick release and accuracy with the 'Rapid Fire' drill. To run the drill, set up 3-4 receivers at different depths (5-10 yards) and have the QB start at the 10-yard line. On the whistle, the QB must release the ball to the first receiver within 2 seconds. If the ball is caught, the QB moves to the next receiver. The drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps with 30 seconds rest between sets. Coaches should emphasize 'eyes on the target' and 'throw with conviction.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the QB's ability to read defenses and quickly deliver the ball to the correct receiver, creating mismatches and scoring opportunities. By mastering the 'Rapid Fire' drill, Desert Edge Scorpions QBs will be ready to take on the best of 5A Arizona high school football.
