Husky Athlete Eyes Flag Football Future at Nebraska, Ottawa University
Multisport standout Sydney Johnson is shifting her focus to girls flag football, with a clear goal in mind: securing a college scholarship. The Hamilton Huskies' 6A standout has caught the attention of top programs, including the University of Nebraska, where coaches Liz and Katie Sowers are building a powerhouse program for the 2028 inaugural season. Johnson is also considering Ottawa University, Kansas, a national flag football powerhouse offering up to 12 scholarships. Additionally, she's been in contact with Keiser University, Florida, and Midland University, Nebraska, both active recruiters in the flag football space. As UT Arlington's program develops, Johnson will monitor their progress. To increase her chances, Johnson plans to attend summer camps at Nebraska and Ottawa University, where she'll showcase her skills and learn from top coaches. By taking proactive steps, Johnson is positioning herself for a successful flag football career and potential college scholarship opportunities.
