Maximizing OL Strength through the 'Boxer Shuffle' Drill
The 'Boxer Shuffle' drill is a high-intensity exercise designed to improve the lateral movement and agility of 6A OL players. To perform this drill, OL players will start in a neutral stance with their feet shoulder-width apart. They will then take 3 large steps to one side, shuffling their feet in a box-like motion. After completing the 3 steps, players will quickly change direction and repeat the process on the other side. The coach will provide a whistle signal to start and stop the drill. The OL player will perform 3 sets of 10 reps on each side, resting for 30 seconds between sets. This drill translates to game performance by improving the OL player's ability to quickly react to defensive linemen and maintain their position in the pocket.
