FridayNightPulse: 6A Linebacker Drill - 'Shuttle to Shed'

๐Ÿ“ Hamilton HuskiesยทMonday, July 13, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

This summer, Hamilton Huskies linebackers will be putting in the work with the 'Shuttle to Shed' drill. The goal is to improve their ability to quickly change direction and shed blockers in pursuit of the ball carrier. The drill consists of three sets of 10 reps. Set one: linebackers start in a 3-point stance, then quickly change direction to their right, shuffling 5 yards to the side. As they reach the end of the 5 yards, they explosively shed a blocking pad held by a teammate. Set two: repeat on the left side. Set three: add a defender to block the linebacker, focusing on their ability to break through and make a tackle. Coaching cues include 'quick feet' and 'explosive hands.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the linebacker's ability to read and react to the ball carrier, making them a more effective and dominant force on the field.
