Malik Thompson Commits to Iowa State
Malik Thompson, a 6-foot-4 tight end from the Class of 2026, has committed to Iowa State University. Thompson, a standout performer for the De La Salle Spartans, chose the Cyclones over other top programs. The Spartans' open classification allowed Thompson to attract interest from across the country. Iowa State's pro-style offense, which features a strong emphasis on the tight end position, made it an attractive fit for Thompson. He will have the opportunity to contribute immediately, as the Cyclones' depth chart at tight end is expected to be competitive. Iowa State's academic programs, including its renowned College of Engineering, also played a role in Thompson's decision. Thompson had previously committed to another school, but reopened his recruitment in the spring.
