Building a Stronger Folsom Bulldogs O-Line: The 'Power Pull' Drill
As the Folsom Bulldogs prepare for the upcoming 5A season, their linemen are putting in the work to dominate on the gridiron. One key drill that's helping them build strength and technique is the 'Power Pull' exercise. This drill targets the legs, glutes, and core, essential for explosive blocking and pulling. To set up the drill, have OL players start in a three-point stance with their feet shoulder-width apart. On the whistle, they explosively drive their feet into the ground, generating power to pull a heavy sled (loaded with weights) 10-15 yards. Complete 3 sets of 8-10 reps, resting 60-90 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include 'Drive your feet,' 'Pull with your legs,' and 'Keep your core tight.' This drill translates to game performance by building the strength and power needed to effectively block and pull defenders, giving the Bulldogs a strong foundation for a successful season.
