FridayNightPulse: Corona Centennial Huskies Defensive End Summer Drill

๐Ÿ“ Corona Centennial HuskiesยทThursday, July 9, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

Defensive Ends at Open programs like Corona Centennial Huskies can dominate with the right training. Here's a drill to improve speed and agility: "Shuttle Sprints". Set up 5 cones in a zig-zag pattern, 5 yards apart. Players start at one end. On the whistle, they sprint to the first cone, then immediately change direction and sprint to the second cone. Continue through the course, focusing on quick footwork and explosive acceleration. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, resting 30 seconds between sets. Coaches should emphasize keeping the head down, eyes up, and driving through the first step. This drill translates to game performance by improving a Defensive End's ability to quickly close gaps and chase down ball carriers. It also enhances their agility in tight spaces, making them a nightmare to block.
