St. John Bosco Braves RB Drill: 'Power Through Contact'

๐Ÿ“ St. John Bosco BravesยทFriday, July 10, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At St. John Bosco Braves' Open programs, running backs are put through a grueling drill to improve their ability to power through contact. The 'Power Through Contact' drill involves four sets of 10 reps. Each rep consists of a 5-yard sprint, followed by a 2-yard cut, and finishing with a 2-yard run through a tackle bag. Coaches cue the RBs to 'drive through the bag,' keeping their eyes up and their shoulders square. This drill translates to game performance by teaching RBs to maintain their speed and momentum through contact, allowing them to break tackles and gain extra yards. By incorporating this drill into their training, RBs can improve their ability to finish runs and gain a competitive edge.
