De La Salle Spartans Flag Football Star Pursues College Scholarship Opportunities
Multisport standout Rachel Johnson, a rising senior at De La Salle High School, is shifting her focus to flag football in pursuit of college scholarship opportunities. Johnson, a versatile athlete, has excelled in multiple sports, but her sights are now set on the inaugural NCAA Division 1 flag football season at the University of Nebraska in 2028. Coached by the renowned Sowers sisters, Liz and Katie, the Cornhuskers are offering scholarships to top female flag football talent. Johnson has also been in contact with Ottawa University, Kansas, which offers up to 12 NAIA flag football scholarships. Additionally, she has been in communication with Keiser University, Florida, and Midland University, Nebraska, both of which have active flag football recruiting programs. As UT Arlington continues to develop its NCAA Division 1 flag football program, Johnson is keeping a close eye on the Mavericks' progress. To further her chances, Johnson plans to attend summer camps at the University of Nebraska and Ottawa University, where she will showcase her skills and gain valuable exposure. With her sights set on a college flag football scholarship, Johnson is taking proactive steps to ensure her future in the sport.
