Servite Friars S Players: Master the 'Speed Box' Drill for Explosive Tackles

At Servite Friars' Open programs, S players are sharpening their skills with the 'Speed Box' drill. This high-intensity workout targets explosive tackling and quick changes of direction. To perform the drill, set up a series of 5x5 foot boxes with cones or markers. S players will start at the first box, then rapidly change direction to tackle a ball carrier or teammate at the second box. Complete 3 sets of 10 reps, resting 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include 'quick feet,' 'low center of gravity,' and 'explosive extension.' This drill translates to game performance by improving S players' ability to quickly close gaps and make tackles in tight spaces.
