Crunch Time for TE Prospects: What Coaches Look for on Junior Day Visits

๐Ÿ“ Servite FriarsยทSunday, July 12, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

When TE prospects attend junior day visits at Open programs like Servite Friars, coaches are scrutinizing every detail. To stand out, focus on showcasing your blocking skills. Coaches want to see a TE who can seal the edge and create a seam for the RB. Measure your ability by completing 3 consecutive reps of a 5-yard block drill, with a minimum of 2 reps where you seal the edge and the RB gains 3+ yards. Coaches also evaluate your pass-catching skills, particularly in traffic. Practice routes in tight spaces and focus on securing catches with defenders in your face. Highlight tapes should feature clips of you making catches in traffic and using your body to shield defenders. By demonstrating these skills, you'll show coaches you're a well-rounded TE prospect worthy of consideration.
