FridayNightPulse: Raptors' LB Drill for Speed and Agility
Raptors' linebackers at 5A programs like Eaglecrest can improve their speed and agility with this drill. The 'Raptor Rush' drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Players start in a 3-point stance, then explosively jump to a 4-point stance, quickly change direction, and accelerate to a 10-yard sprint. Coaching cues include: 'Raptor Stance' for proper positioning, 'Quick Feet' for rapid changes, and 'Finish Strong' for maximum speed. This drill translates to game performance by improving reaction time, agility, and top-end speed. By incorporating the Raptor Rush drill into their pre-season training, LBs can gain a competitive edge on the field. This drill can be adapted to fit individual player needs and can be done with or without resistance bands for added challenge.
