Darius Johnson Commits to Texas Tech
Pomona Panthers wide receiver Darius Johnson has committed to Texas Tech University. The 5A standout, set to graduate in 2026, chose the Red Raiders for their pass-happy offense, which aligns with his skills as a receiver. Johnson projects to fill a depth chart need at the position, as Texas Tech looks to bolster its receiving corps. Academically, Johnson was drawn to the university's strong engineering program, which offers a curriculum that suits his interests. Johnson initially committed to Colorado State in February, but decommitted in June after re-evaluating his options. He attended Texas Tech's summer football camp in June, where he reportedly impressed coaches with his speed and agility. Johnson's commitment adds to Texas Tech's growing 2026 recruiting class, which is expected to be one of the top classes in the Big 12 Conference.
