FridayNightPulse Training Tip: Power Rush Drill for 4A Defensive Ends

๐Ÿ“ Pueblo South ColtsยทSunday, July 12, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

The Power Rush Drill is a crucial exercise for 4A defensive ends like Pueblo South Colts' standout players. This drill focuses on building explosive power and speed off the edge. To set up, pair each defensive end with an offensive lineman. The defensive end starts in a three-point stance, while the lineman is in a two-point stance. On the whistle, the defensive end rushes the lineman, aiming to beat them to the corner. The drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Coaching cues include: 'Keep your eyes on the target,' 'Drive your feet,' and 'Extend your arms.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the defensive end's ability to quickly close the gap and sack the quarterback.
