Pomona Panthers Kicker Prepares for 5A Season with 'Pinpoint' Drill

๐Ÿ“ Pomona PanthersยทWednesday, July 15, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

For high school kickers at 5A programs like the Pomona Panthers, accuracy and consistency are key. To improve their game-day performance, coach Thompson recommends the 'Pinpoint' drill. Set up five cones in a tight cluster, 10 yards apart, and have the kicker stand 20 yards back. On each set, have the kicker attempt to hit all five cones with a single kick, focusing on precision and control. Start with three sets of five reps and increase to five sets as the kicker builds confidence. Coaching cues include 'pinpoint the spot' and 'follow through.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the kicker's ability to hit the uprights and the ball's trajectory, giving them a competitive edge in 5A matchups.
