Flag Football Pipeline Expands for Texas Athletes

๐Ÿ“ Cherry Creek BruinsยทThursday, July 23, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

The CHSAA's pilot district expansion for girls flag football is creating new scholarship pathways for Texas athletes. As the inaugural 2028 season approaches, the University of Nebraska is leading the charge with a Power 4 scholarship program, coached by Liz and Katie Sowers. Other NAIA programs, such as Ottawa University, Kansas, and Keiser University, Florida, are actively recruiting and offering up to 12 scholarships. Midland University, Nebraska, is also an active recruiter. UT Arlington, a developing NCAA D1 program, is not yet offering scholarships. For Cherry Creek Bruins standout players, this means exploring verified scholarship programs and staying ahead of the competition. Athletes can start by researching the University of Nebraska's flag football program and reaching out to coaches Liz and Katie Sowers. Ottawa University, Kansas, and Keiser University, Florida, are also worth exploring. Midland University, Nebraska, is a viable option for those looking for a NAIA program.
