Raptor Tight End Training: The 'Box Out' Drill

๐Ÿ“ Eaglecrest RaptorsยทFriday, July 24, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

For Eaglecrest Raptors tight end hopefuls, the 'Box Out' drill is a game-changer. This high-intensity exercise targets the key components of a TE's game: blocking, agility, and hand-eye coordination. The drill consists of three sets of 10 reps: (1) a 3-cone weave through the 'box' (5 yards wide, 5 yards long), (2) a 3-yard box-out block on a defender, and (3) a 5-yard sprint to the next 'box'. Coaches cue: 'Box out, seal the edge, and finish with speed.' This drill translates to game performance by improving TEs' ability to seal the edge and create a seam for their quarterback. It also enhances their agility and reaction time, allowing them to stay one step ahead of defenders. Run this drill at summer camp and watch your TEs become a force to be reckoned with on Friday nights.
