FridayNightPulse: Pomona Panthers CB Drill - 'Shadow and React'
Pomona Panthers cornerbacks are gearing up for the 2026 season with a key drill that enhances their reaction time and footwork. The 'Shadow and React' drill involves two players: a receiver and a cornerback. The receiver starts at the line, while the cornerback begins 5 yards off. On the snap, the receiver runs a 5-yard out route. The cornerback's task is to 'shadow' the receiver, staying 1 yard off, until the receiver cuts inside. At this point, the cornerback must 'react' by quickly closing the gap and mirroring the receiver's movements. This drill is run for 3 sets of 10 reps, with a 2-minute rest between sets. The goal is to improve the cornerback's ability to stay with receivers on out routes and quickly adjust to changes in direction.
