Tightening Up: A TE Drill for 4A Programs
For tight ends at 4A programs like Pueblo South Colts, building strength and agility is crucial for success on the field. One effective drill to incorporate into your training is the 'TE Ladder Crawl.' Start by setting up a ladder on the ground, with the player at one end. On the coach's signal, the TE begins to crawl through the ladder, focusing on quick footwork and explosive acceleration. Perform 3 sets of 20 reps, resting for 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include 'quick feet' and 'explosive out.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the TE's ability to quickly release from the line and get into their route. It also enhances their agility and ability to change direction quickly, making them a more elusive target for defenders.
