DeShawn Taylor Commits to Houston

๐Ÿ“ Southington Blue KnightsยทSunday, July 5, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

Southington Blue Knights defensive end DeShawn Taylor has committed to the University of Houston for the Class of 2025. Taylor, a 6-foot-4, 235-pound pass rusher, chose the Cougars over other Power Five offers from Baylor and Purdue. The Blue Knights' standout athlete fits into Houston's defensive scheme, which emphasizes speed and agility. Taylor will have the opportunity to contribute immediately, as the Cougars' depth chart is expected to be relatively thin at defensive end. Academically, Taylor is drawn to Houston's strong engineering program, which aligns with his interests. Taylor had previously committed to the University of Connecticut but decommitted in February after a coaching change. He attended Houston's summer camp in June and developed a strong bond with the coaching staff. Taylor is expected to sign with Houston in the coming weeks.
