FridayNightPulse Training Tip: S Player Agility Ladder Drill for LL Programs

๐Ÿ“ Fairfield Prep JesuitsยทMonday, July 20, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At top LL programs like Fairfield Prep Jesuits, defensive backs must be quick and agile to stay with top receivers. One drill to improve speed and agility is the agility ladder weave. Set up 5-6 ladders on the field, spaced 5 yards apart. Have S players start at one end, then weave through the ladders, focusing on quick footwork and change of direction. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, resting 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include 'quick feet' and 'stay low.' This drill translates to game performance by improving a player's ability to quickly close gaps and change direction on the fly, making it easier to stay with receivers and make tackles.
