Shelton Gaels Break Ground on $1M Facility Upgrade
The Shelton Gaels football program marked a major milestone Thursday, breaking ground on a $1 million facility upgrade ahead of the upcoming season. The Gaels, who finished 4-6 last year in the South-West Conference's Class M division, will benefit from the renovation of their practice fields, locker rooms and weight room. The upgrade is expected to enhance the team's recruiting efforts, with coaches hoping to attract top talent from the region. 'This is a game-changer for our program,' said Shelton athletic director Tom Lipka. 'We'll be able to compete with the best of them now.' The Gaels will look to build on last year's modest improvement, and the new facilities will provide a boost as they strive to return to the CIAC playoffs for the first time since 2019.
