Southington Blue Knights flag football players are poised to capitalize on the CIAC's district expansion, which is creating new pathways for Texas athletes to secure scholarships at top programs. The University of Nebraska, led by coaches Liz and Katie Sowers, is one of the Power 4 schools launching an inaugural 2028 season. Ottawa University, Kansas, and Keiser University, Florida, have long been active recruiters in the sport. Midland University, Nebraska, is another NAIA powerhouse offering up to 12 scholarships. Meanwhile, UT Arlington is developing its NCAA D1 program. As the CIAC's pilot district expansion gains momentum, Southington's top talent can expect increased visibility and opportunities for recruitment.
