Marcus Smith Commits to SMU for 2027 Class
Southington Blue Knights linebacker Marcus Smith has committed to Southern Methodist University for the 2027 class. Smith, a Class of 2027 prospect, chose SMU for its athletic fit within the Mustangs' 3-4 defensive scheme. He is expected to contribute immediately, as the team looks to rebuild its linebacking corps. The Blue Knights' coaching staff had previously mentioned Smith's potential to start as a freshman. Smith also cited SMU's strong academic program, which aligns with his own academic goals. The 6-foot-1, 220-pound linebacker is considered one of the top prospects in the state of Connecticut. He had previously committed to the University of Connecticut, but decommitted in May after re-evaluating his options. Smith is expected to sign with SMU in the coming weeks.
