Building Dominance: Middletown Cavaliers' Defensive End Drill

๐Ÿ“ Middletown CavaliersยทTuesday, July 7, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At the top Div I programs like Middletown Cavaliers, defensive ends are expected to be explosive and relentless off the edge. To achieve this, coaches are implementing the 'RPM' drill, focusing on speed, power, and agility. The drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps each: 1) 10-yard sprint, 2) box jump onto a 24-inch box, and 3) a 5-yard shuttle run. Coaching cues include 'explosive drive' for the sprint, 'quick turnover' for the box jump, and 'aggressive change of direction' for the shuttle. This drill translates to game performance by improving DEs' ability to quickly close gaps and change direction on the field, making them more effective pass rushers and run stoppers.
