Power Through Contact: A RB Drill for Div II Success
This summer, RBs at Div II programs like St. Mark's Spartans can improve their ability to power through contact with the 'Box Drill'. Set up a series of boxes or pads 3-4 feet apart, with a defender or bag at each station. Players will start at the first box, then run through each station, focusing on exploding through the contact and maintaining balance. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, resting 60 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include: 'Drive through the box', 'Keep your head up', and 'Finish through the contact'. This drill translates to game performance by improving RBs' ability to break tackles and maintain possession in traffic. By incorporating the Box Drill into their training, RBs can gain a competitive edge and dominate on the field this season.
