FridayNightPulse: Middletown Cavaliers Defensive End Drill for Strength and Agility

๐Ÿ“ Middletown CavaliersยทThursday, July 9, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

The Middletown Cavaliers coaching staff has developed a drill to improve defensive end strength and agility, focusing on the key attributes of speed, power, and quickness. The 'DE Shuttle Blast' drill consists of three sets of 5 reps: 1) Start in a 3-point stance, then explosively drive 10 yards downfield, planting the outside foot and quickly changing direction to sprint back to the starting point; 2) From the starting point, perform a box jump onto a 12-inch box, landing softly and immediately transitioning into a 10-yard shuttle run; 3) Finish with a 10-yard sprint while maintaining proper tackling form. Coaching cues include 'explosive drive,' 'quick feet,' and 'stay low.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the defensive end's ability to rapidly change direction and accelerate off the line of scrimmage.
