As the University of Nebraska prepares to launch its inaugural NCAA Division 1 flag football season in 2028, local athletes at Middletown Cavaliers are taking notice. Coached by the Sowers sisters, Liz and Katie, the Cornhuskers are poised to become a powerhouse program. For Middletown prospects, this means new scholarship opportunities. The University of Nebraska is expected to offer up to 12 full-ride scholarships for the 2028 season. Meanwhile, Ottawa University, Kansas, is already a national flag football powerhouse, offering up to 12 scholarships. Keiser University, Florida, and Midland University, Nebraska, are also active recruiters. Athletes interested in pursuing flag football scholarships should contact these programs directly to inquire about eligibility and application requirements.
