Sprints to Sidelines: A Speed Drill for Caesar Rodney Riders S Players
This summer, Caesar Rodney Riders S players can improve their game-changing speed with a simple yet effective drill. The 'Sideline Sprint' drill targets acceleration and deceleration, essential skills for S players who constantly change direction on the field. To set up, divide the players into pairs with one player as the 'runner' and the other as the 'blocker.' The runner starts at the 10-yard line, and the blocker lines up at the 5-yard line. On the coach's signal, the runner sprints to the sideline, then immediately cuts back to the 10-yard line. The blocker attempts to block the runner's path. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, resting 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include 'explosive start' and 'quick feet.' This drill translates to game performance by allowing S players to develop the speed and agility needed to stay with faster receivers and make game-changing plays.
