Maximizing Middletown Cavaliers OL Strength with the 'Anchor' Drill
At the top Div I programs like the Middletown Cavaliers, linemen must possess the strength and agility to dominate on the field. One effective drill for OL players is the 'Anchor' drill. This exercise targets the player's ability to explosively generate power and maintain a strong anchor point. To perform the 'Anchor' drill, OL players will start in a three-point stance with their hands on the ground. They will then explosively drive their hands into the ground, generating power from their legs and core. The player must maintain a strong anchor point throughout the movement, keeping their chest up and shoulders down. Perform 3 sets of 8 reps, with 60 seconds rest between sets. The 'Anchor' drill translates to game performance by allowing OL players to effectively block and drive defenders off the line of scrimmage.
