FridayNightPulse Training Tip: Tight End Power Development for DII Programs

๐Ÿ“ St. Mark's SpartansยทMonday, July 27, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

This week's training tip is designed for Tight End players at Division II programs like the St. Mark's Spartans. The 'Box Step-Up' drill is a game-changer for TE power development. Set up a box or bench 12-18 inches high and have players perform the following: 3 sets of 8 reps (per leg) - Box Step-Up with a 20-pound dumbbell in each hand. Coaching cues: 'Step up with the outside foot, keep the back knee bent at 90 degrees, and drive through the front heel.' This drill translates to game performance by improving balance, stability, and explosive power in the tight end position. By incorporating this drill into your training regimen, your TE players will be better equipped to block, seal, and create separation in the red zone.
