FridayNightPulse: Lakeland Dreadnaughts CB Drill

๐Ÿ“ Lakeland DreadnaughtsยทWednesday, July 1, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

Cornerbacks in 7A programs like Lakeland Dreadnaughts need to be quick, agile, and able to change direction on a dime. To improve their game performance, we recommend the 'Shuttle-Hop' drill. Set up two cones 10 yards apart, with a third cone 5 yards to the side. Players start at the first cone, then shuttle to the second cone, before hopping over the third cone and back to the starting point. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, resting for 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include: 'Keep your feet light and quick,' 'Stay low and balanced,' and 'Focus on exploding out of the shuttle.' This drill translates to game performance by improving a CB's ability to quickly close on receivers and change direction in tight spaces. It also enhances their reaction time and agility, making them a more effective defender.
