Speed and Agility for S Players: Lakeland Dreadnaughts' 5-10-5 Shuttle Drill

The Lakeland Dreadnaughts' coaching staff has developed a drill to improve the speed and agility of their S players. The 5-10-5 shuttle drill is designed to simulate the quick changes of direction that S players face on the field. The drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds of rest between sets. Players start at the 5-yard line, sprint to the 10-yard line, then backpedal to the 5-yard line, and finally sprint to the 10-yard line again. Coaching cues include 'explosive acceleration' and 'aggressive backpedal.' This drill translates to game performance by improving a player's ability to quickly change direction and maintain top-end speed, allowing them to stay with receivers and cover tight spaces.
