Chaminade-Madonna Lions CBs: Mastering the 'Shuttle-Press' Drill
This summer, Chaminade-Madonna Lions cornerbacks can elevate their game with the 'Shuttle-Press' drill. Designed to improve reaction time and ball skills, this drill is perfect for 3A programs looking to dominate in the secondary. To set up, divide the field into two 10-yard sections with cones. Players start at the 5-yard line, reacting to a coach's whistle to sprint to the 15-yard line (shuttle). Immediately, they transition to a press coverage stance, hands up and feet shoulder-width apart. The coach then throws a pass to the player's left or right, requiring them to quickly turn and make a play on the ball. Perform 3 sets of 5 reps on each side, with 30 seconds of rest between sets. This drill translates to game performance by replicating the quick changes of direction and reaction time required in 3A football. By mastering the 'Shuttle-Press,' Lions cornerbacks will be ready to take on the best of the FHSAA.
