FridayNightPulse: Lakeland Dreadnaughts CB Drill - 'Shuttle and Break'

๐Ÿ“ Lakeland DreadnaughtsยทSaturday, July 18, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

The 'Shuttle and Break' drill is a high-intensity exercise designed to improve the speed and agility of cornerbacks at 7A programs like the Lakeland Dreadnaughts. This drill consists of three sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds of rest in between sets. Players start at the line of scrimmage, then sprint 5 yards to the left, plant their outside foot, and quickly change direction to sprint 5 yards to the right. As they break to the right, they should be looking back over their shoulder to track the quarterback. This drill translates to game performance by improving a cornerback's ability to quickly close on the ball and track the quarterback's eyes. Coaches should emphasize proper footwork, explosive acceleration, and maintaining vision throughout the drill.
